Question
Does all access have to go through Okera once installed or can users access the filesystem directly?
Answer
There's no strict requirement for all access to go through Okera. You can configure in a manner so that certain users can go directly to the raw data. There are two kinds of situations where you may want direct access to raw data:
- Use cases have not been on-boarded to Okera yet and need direct access to raw files. This is typical in a phased deployment approach where you on-board use cases over time.
- Data administrators that have full access to the raw files and may want to do keep it such for administration purposes.
Anything that goes to the raw files directly will not be able to leverage the security functionality that Okera's Unified Access Service provides.
There is also a new feature in Okera that introduces dynamic bypass querying (DBQ), the new query-execution mode for OkeraEnsemble nScale clusters. Information for this feature is available here.
